4 How We Store and Protect Your Data

4.1 Data Storage

• Local Storage: Tasks, events, and categories are stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database
• Cloud Storage: Your data is synced to Firebase Firestore only when you explicitly choose to sync
• Authentication: Firebase Auth securely handles all account-related information
• Backup: Enable Android cloud backup to protect your data if your device is lost

4.2 Data Security

• All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
• Firestore security rules ensure you can only access your own data
• Authentication tokens are stored in encrypted device storage (Android Keystore)
• Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
• We implement industry-standard security practices to protect against unauthorized access

4.3 Data Retention

• Your data is retained for as long as your account is active
• If you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
• Audit logs are automatically deleted after 90 days

5 Your Rights and Control

5.1 Access and Portability

You have the right to:

• Access all your personal data stored in the App
• Export your data as a PDF (via the Export feature in Settings)
• Request a copy of your data in machine-readable format

5.2 Deletion

You have the right to:

• Delete individual tasks, moments, and categories within the App
• Request complete account deletion at any time

5.3 Corrections

You can edit your email, display name, and other profile information directly in the App Settings.

TaskLine is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that information and terminate the child's account.

8 Biometric Data

If you enable biometric authentication (fingerprint/face unlock):

• Biometric data is stored securely on your device only, using Android Keystore
• We never receive, store, or process your biometric data
• You can disable biometric authentication at any time in Settings

9 Offline Usage

TaskLine works offline — your data is stored locally on your device and does not require an internet connection for basic use. Cloud sync is optional and only occurs when you manually trigger it or when you have an active internet connection and sync is enabled.

10 Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will:

1. Notify you via email as soon as possible (within 30 days of discovery)
2. Describe the nature of the breach
3. Provide steps you can take to protect yourself
4. Share information about our response and remediation measures

11 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Posting the updated policy on our website
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document
• Displaying a prominent notice in the App

Your continued use of TaskLine after any changes signifies your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

12 International Data Transfers

TaskLine uses Firebase, which operates globally. Your data may be processed and stored in different countries, including the United States. By using TaskLine, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection rules.

Google (Firebase provider) complies with standard data transfer mechanisms including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

GDPR (Europe)
